National Reptile Awareness Day - 2021-10-21
What is National Reptile Awareness Day?
Reptiles. They're fascinating. And the world will observe a day to celebrate them. It's called World Turtle Day. The goal is to raise awareness of how we, as a species, are threatening the natural habitats of these ancient beings. Without a healthy habitat, reptiles can't survive. To help them out, we'll celebrate their existence with reptile-related activities around the globe. You might think that reptiles have been around forever, but the first National Reptile Awareness Day was in 2011. This is even more surprising when you consider that reptile awareness wasn’t a thing before the 1960s. That’s when the Endangered Species Act was passed for the first time. The only reason we have National Reptile Awareness Day now is because people started to become aware of reptiles and their needs.
