National Rescue Dog Day is the day to show appreciation for these lovable furry friends who make everyday living a little bit better. If you’re feeling lonely, this is the perfect day to go to your nearest rescue center and adopt yourself a loveable companion. This day also reminds people to always adopt from shelters rather than to ‘buy’ from pet stores. Shelter dog are desperately seeking new homes and are in need of rescuing. This is also, more often than not, a cheaper alternative to buying from a store.
Tails That Teach founded National Rescue Dog Day on May 20 to honor the inspiring ways rescue dogs become apart of the human family and increase awareness about the number of dogs in shelters.
The Registrar at National Day Calendar proclaimed National Rescue Dog Day to be observed annually beginning in 2018.
