National Single Parent Day - 2021-03-21
What is National Single Parent Day?
March 21st is National Single Parents Day. It honors moms and dads who are doing a great job raising their families by themselves. Raising kids is tough. But single parents have it worse. They carry twice the burden because they're doing it alone. Whether by choice or circumstance, they face a very tough situation. Between work, school, daycare, doctor visits, and more, one person can only do so much. Many single parents are lucky enough to have family support. This is incredibly important. According to the 2016 U.S. Census, 23% of American children are living with a single mother and 4% are living with a single father. There are plenty of single parents who have raised children to be great citizens. Many of them would agree that having two parents is better than one. But one parent with a lot of help can also raise great kids.

History of National Single Parent Day
March 21, 1984, saw the beginning of an organization that was dedicated to single parents. It’s called Parents Without Partners. Recognition of this day is now slowly coming into existence. Hopefully, one day it will be as widely recognized as Mother’s Day.
