National Solitaire Day is the celebration of the card game that has been around for more than 200 years. The original game is played with a standard 52 card deck. However, the more well known version is the online computer game released by Microsoft in 1990. The goal of the Microsoft game was to teach computer users how to use the mouse and the game became one of the most played video games in history.
The popularity of the game only grew from its original video game form into apps that you can play on your phone. To this day, people still play Microsoft’s version on their computers for fun!
“…For the past 30 years, Microsoft Solitaire has been providing great entertainment to hundreds of millions of players in every corner of the world, and we’re happy to announce that May 22 of each calendar year will officially be designated as National Solitaire Day, recognizing the day Microsoft first included Solitaire in Windows,” says Paul Jensen, Studio Manager for Microsoft Casual Games.
Microsoft founded National Solitaire Day on May 22, 2018, to celebrate one of the most played computer games.
