Very often, the honorable deeds of young people go unnoticed. Many youngsters participate in Lions Clubs around the country that aim to do good in their communities. National Speak Up for Service Day was created to highlight the importance of community service for young people. It is the perfect day to give back and share insights on how to make a better world. Every year, thousands of young men and women gather at the National Service public speaking contest organized by the North Dakota State Lions Convention. Lions Clubs and America celebrate National Speak Up for Service Day on October 30th every year.

National Speak Up for Service Day was first founded in 2003 by the Fargo, North Dakota Lions club. It officially became a national day in 2014.
