The earliest record of spinach was found in China, which said that the plant was introduced from Nepal. The three main types of spinach are savoy, flat, and semi-savoy. Savoy has dark green leaves that are crinkled or curled. It is usually sold in bunches. Flat leaves are smooth, broad, and usually comes in bags. Semi-savoy is a hybrid variety with crinkly leaves that is typically sold fresh and processed. There are so many fun ways to celebrate National Spinach Day. Eat as much spinach as you want on the day. There are so many delicious ways to cook it, whether you eat it raw, or cooked. Start off the festivities with spinach soup, then move onto spinach salads, spinach pizza sauce, spinach casseroles, and even a spinach cake!
