National Static Electricity Day - 2022-01-09

What is National Static Electricity Day?
Static electricity is different from the current that runs through a building because it occurs when an atom's positive and negative charges are out of balance.
Some materials, including plastic, glass, and cloth are insulators. These electrically neutral substances hold their electrons tightly. Other materials like metals are called conductors. Their electrons move more freely. When two insulators – say cloth – are rubbed together, the movement of electrons causes a positive and negative charge to appear between them.
When is National Static Electricity Day?
National Static Electricity Day is celebrated every year on January 9th!
