National Strawberry Day - 2022-02-27
What is National Strawberry Day?
The strawberry is an evergreen plant originally grown in northern Europe, but species are also found in Russia, Chile, and the United States. The fruit is so named because it is scattered among the leaves of the plant. The plant was originally called strewberry, which later changed to strawberry. Strawberries are very popular in June, but you can also find them at some farmers' markets in the fall if you live in a warm climate. Ever-bearing varieties of strawberries can produce until the first frost. Strawberries are a delicious fruit, but they are also a healthful food source. Eat them raw, grill them, bake them in a cake, dip them in chocolate or use them to make a cocktail.
