What Is National Take Back the Lunch Break Day?

Take Back the Lunch Break Day encourages workers all over American to take longer lunch breaks than usual, and employers to allow them to do so. Longer lunch breaks have been shown to actually increase productivity in the workplace. Despite this, there has been a trend in recent years of workers being so busy that they’re nearly forced into taking shorter breaks to keep up with their workload. This day is a reminder to all that the lunch break is extremely important for the mental and physical wellbeing of workers.

History Of National Take Back the Lunch Break Day

Tork established National Take Back the Lunch Break Day in 2018 to attempt to fix the decline of the American employee lunch break. The idea is simple: longer lunch breaks, happier employees! In May of 2018, The Registrar at National Day Calendar proclaimed celebration to be observed on the third Friday in June, annually.
