National Tater Day - 2021-03-31
What is National Tater Day?
On March 31st, National Tater Day is a celebration of potatoes. It is a wonderful day for everyone to appreciate the essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber that potatoes provide. Potatoes are a versatile food. That might explain why so many people eat them. They are the number one consumed vegetable in the United States, and there are over 200 different kinds of potatoes in the United States. When you consider all of the ways we can eat potatoes, it shouldn’t be surprising. Sweet potatoes are one of the main crops in Kentucky. On this day, people used to trade and sell them. That's how Tater Day started. It's the oldest continuous trade day in the United States, and it has been around since the early 1840s.
