National Tax Day - 2022-04-15
What is National Tax Day?
Tax Day is the day that every American citizen has to submit their income tax forms to the federal government. It falls on April 15th. It’s also known as Federal Tax Day, and it's a day for state tax returns, too. Taxes are due to the federal government on April 15th at midnight. If an extension is needed, it can be granted up until midnight on April 15th. If the 15th lands on a weekend or holiday, the deadline is always moved to the next day that isn't a weekend or holiday. The dates on which you must file your tax returns can vary depending on a number of factors. For example, if a natural disaster hits your area, the government might grant extensions for filing your taxes.

History of National Tax Day
In 1862, The United States government first collected income tax to fund the Civil War. The law was ruled unconstitutional because it wasn't apportioned equally across the states. In 1913, The United States enacted the 16th Amendment and again introduced income tax.
