What is National Thomas Jefferson Day?
April 13th is the birthday of Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the United States. Thomas Jefferson was born on April 13, 1743. One of the most famous Americans in history, Jefferson was the primary author of the Declaration of Independence. A fascinating figure, he was not interested in public speaking but wrote thousands of letters and hundreds of manuscripts. Jefferson was a genius who read a lot. He had a vast library with 6,500 volumes, which he read and studied. In addition to being an attorney and politician, Jefferson was also a scientist. He studied agriculture, paleontology, and astronomy. He was extremely curious and kept detailed weather records. Eventually, he started a weather service in Virginia.

National Thomas Jefferson Day is celebrated on April 13 of every year.
History of National Thomas Jefferson Day
The first proclamation was made by FDR on March 21, 1938. He proclaimed April 13th to celebrate the birth of Thomas Jefferson. This is quite different from the second proclamation, which was made by George W. Bush on April 11, 2007.
