National Truffle Day - 2021-05-02
What is National Truffle Day?
On May 2nd, everyone wants to celebrate truffles! It's National Truffle Day, and this event puts the spotlight on chocolate truffles. Traditionally, this chocolate treat is made with a ganache center coated in chocolate. It may be filled with other ingredients such as cream, melted chocolate, caramel, nuts, fruit, nougat, fudge, toffee, mint, marshmallow, and liqueur. N. Petruccelli of Chambery, France is believed to be the inventor of the chocolate truffle in 1895 when he made them for King Umberto I and Queen Margherita. Truffles became more popular in England in 1902 when Prestat Chocolate Shop opened and still sells Napoleon III truffles, made with the original recipe.
