National Waffle Day - 2021-08-24

What is National Waffle Day?
Next to buttermilk pancakes, waffles are perhaps the most famous America breakfast food. And for good reason! Crunchy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, with little cubes that perfectly hold on to your toppings, why wouldn't you love waffles?! The first waffle iron was patented on August 24th, 1869, by Cornelius Swarthout of New York. The invention made making waffles so much easier and contributed to their huge growth as a breakfast item worldwide. The basic recipe of a waffle batter is simple and similar to pancakes, but it can be personalised hugely with the addition of fruits or spices directly to the batter. How do you like to eat your waffles?
When is National Waffle Day?
August 24th is the anniversary of the first waffle iron patent, thus making it National Waffle Day!
