Whipped cream has been around since the 16th century. In 1549, an Italian recipe included it and in 1604, a French recipe did as well. While whipped cream is most often sweetened and flavored with vanilla, it can also be used to enhance desserts with other flavors. It adds a delightfulness that is perfect for pies, cakes, and beverages. We call it by other names, too, such as Chantilly cream or creme Chantilly, milk snow or snow cream.
