Did you know that more than half of Americans leave unused vacation days on the table? That's according to an online survey by Expedia. It found that 24% of respondents reported taking fewer than 10 vacation days last year, while another 25% took between 11 and 20 days off. The National Plan for Vacation Day tries to get people to plan their vacations at the start of the year so they can have a more relaxed vacation. The US celebrates National Plan for Vacation Day on the last Tuesday of January. This day is to encourage people to take vacations and spend time with their loved ones.

In 2017, Project: Time Off of the US Travel Association developed a plan for a national vacation day. This plan provides an opportunity to rally around the importance of planning for a vacation and encourages people to take a break from work.
