Purple Up! Day - 2022-04-15
What is Purple Up! Day?
On April 15th, Purple Up! Day will recognize the military’s unsung heroes. Those are their children. The campaign encourages everyone to wear purple to show their support for all branches of the military. Nationwide and worldwide, military children play a significant role in their schools, youth organizations, and communities. When we wear purple to honor them, we show our support for all branches of the military – Army, Navy, Marine, Coast Guard, Air Force, and Space Force. Raising a child in the military is one of the most difficult challenges a family can face. But it's not just about those parents who serve. The local community must also be ready to support the children of those who serve. You can show your support by wearing purple. Schools and military bases host events to honor military children and their families. Many local businesses also hold celebrations in April, especially when the 15th falls on a weekend.
When is Purple Up! Day?

History of Purple Up! Day
The University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension Military Youth and Family Program initiated Purple Up! in 2011. This program helps children cope with the stress of deployment by giving them an outlet to express their feelings.
