Veterans Day - 2021-11-11
What is Veterans Day?
On November 11th every year, the United States celebrates Veterans Day in honor of Armistice day-which symbolized an end to World War I. The original date for this event was set back when Dwight Eisenhower signed a bill that changed it from being known as "Armistice" or peacetime celebrations during wartime into what we know now about honoring veterans and their service today! In 1954 President D excelsior renamed “Veteran's” Day after two men who sacrificed themselves by giving up their lives so others could be safe: John Philip Sousa (in America) played titled 'Onward Christian Soldier' at military funerals while Henry Below composed hymns including God Bless America.
When is Veterans Day?
On 11 November, Veterans Day we honor all veterans for their service to our country. We stand united in respect and gratitude towards you-our brave souls who have served this great nation with courage and dedication!
History of Veterans Day
This holiday started as a day to reflect upon the heroism of those who died in our country's service and was originally called Armistice Day. It fell on Nov. 11 because that is when World War I officially ended, but then it changed over time so we could remember everyone from every war right here at home too with "Veterans Day."
