April 2nd is a day to remember the growing prevalence of autism. According to a recent report, it affects one in 59 children. It is a bio-neurological developmental disability that usually presents itself by the age of three and is more prevalent in boys than girls. Autism is a developmental disorder that affects the way people communicate and interact with others. The first time the word “autism” was used was in 1911 by the psychiatrist Eugen Bleuler, who used it to describe a specific cluster of symptoms that would eventually be known as autism. Children with autism face many challenges as they grow up. Bullies target them because they use fewer social cues than other children. They are also susceptible to drowning because they tend to wander off. They cannot speak or communicate, so they cannot tell someone their name or where they live either.  

World Autism Awareness Day is an internationally recognized day on April 2.

April 2 is World Autism Awareness Day. The United Nations has called on the world to recognize the growing need for innovative programs to support people with autism.
