Making sure you remember each password can feel like a daunting task. World Password Day reminds us of the importance of these little crypto-keys and the role they play in making sure we keep hold of our lives, identity thieves are everywhere, and these are your first digital line of defense.

The first Thursday in May is World Password Day. A day dedicated to promoting safer password practices. Love it or hate it, we all need to use passwords daily. Keeping your data safe isn't as difficult as you think but it needs to be updated regularly and that is what this day is all about.

World Password Day came along to provide a warning to the world, and to spread awareness that taking care of your passwords is vital to protecting yourself against identity theft. In 2005, security expert Mark Burnett wrote a book called Perfect Passwords, in which he floated the idea of dedicating one day in the calendar each year when everybody should change their passwords.
